Big Brothers Big Sisters
Big Brothers Big Sisters is the National Philanthropy for Sigma Phi Epsilon. Currently, Ohio Pi is meeting with directors of the organization in order to help with the cause. The following information was taken from the BBBS website.
Vision: all children achieve success in life.
Mission: provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever.
Accountability: by partnering with parents/guardians, volunteers and others in the community we are accountable for each child in our program achieving:
- Higher aspirations, greater confidence, and better relationships
- Avoidance of risky behaviors
- Educational success
We are very excited to start working with kids in the Dayton area.
American Heart Association
Another national organization that Sigma Phi Epsilon, Ohio Pi raises money for is the American Heart Association. The main way this is accomplished is through the annual Queen of Hearts Week. This event, held in the spring, is a week in which we raise money and spread awareness of various heart diseases. Last year, the event list included a dodge ball tournament, Miss Congeniality contest, and the Queen of Hearts Pageant.
On campus, Sigma Phi Epsilon gets involved in many other philanthropy events put on by other organizations, both Greek and independent. We are proud to support our fellow organizations and help with their cause. Here is a short list of some of the ways Ohio Pi gets involved.
